Month 4 ~ Mothering & Trauma.

Stress does not always lead to trauma. This month we define trauma from a somatic perspective & unpack what it’s presence can mean for our parenting. We look at how trauma can be inhereted through our lineage and how we can mitigate what we pass down to our children. We practiced the skill of self-awareness & embodiment using the acronym S.I.B.A.M.

Behavior — What action do you feel compelled to take in response to this feeling? Is there a movement, a posture, a gesture that you impulsively want to do when you feel this way?

Affect — What emotion is associated with this experience?

Meaning — What story is your mind telling you about this experience? What thoughts arise? What meaning are you making about these sensations, images, behaviors & emotions?
